We really enjoyed this two-day tour of the Charyn, Temirlik, and several other canyons. It was great that we had the chance to walk and explore on foot during the trip. With Konstantin, we did trekking in the Temirlik Canyon, which is perfect if you don’t mind some challenging terrain. Sometimes we had to go down steep paths or pass through what felt like a “Kazakh jungle,” but it was all part of the adventure. In the other canyons, the hiking was easier and shorter, but still very enjoyable.
This area is fantastic for both driving and walking tours. Just remember to bring plenty of water, especially in the summer when it can get very hot. If you visit during the summer, you can also swim in the river at the canyon. The water is quite cool, but on a hot day, it feels amazing.
Spending the night in a tent at the bottom of the canyon was very comfortable and even a bit romantic. Sitting by the fire in the evening with a cold beer after a long day was the perfect way to relax. In the morning, we had fresh coffee, brewed by Konstantin, before starting another day full of exploration.
For those who love wild nature, I wouldn’t recommend visiting the canyons for just one day. Most of your time will be spent driving there and back, and you won’t get to fully enjoy everything these amazing places have to offer.
