We took a two day trip in the last days of April when we visited Almaty. Kosta picked us up from our Almaty appartment at seven in the morning. After a coffee break we headed for Charyn Canyon, which was about a four hour drive to the West in a beautiful countryside. Charyn Canyon was beautiful, but the trip after was even more breathtaking! The enormous wide steppe, the (bit scary because very steep) trip down into the Canyon, camping next to the wild river in a place where hardly anyone’s has ever been… Such a great experience! Being one with nature was something really different and extraordinairy. Kosta are very experienced mountain guides, and very good hosts! They made us a wonderful campsite dinner, fireplace, set up our tents, had a very nice relaxed conversation. Next morning we woke up next to some dogs who begged for food, so sweet!
The second day Kosta took us to various canyons and astonishing views, sometimes it looked we were on different planet, no people around, just wild nature and its creatures. They gave us plenty of time to take in the views and take pictures, I love photography and it was very relaxing to have so much time to take the environment in.
We arrived back in Almaty late the second night, feeling like we had been on a trip for weeks. So many impressions, thoughts and views of this beautiful, undiscovered country.
Kosta made us have a wonderful experience, never to forget. If you ever have the opportunity to visit this almost unknown part of the world, we highly recommend to book a trip with these two dedicated, enthousiastic and very lovely people. You won’t regret it!!
