In 2018, my son and I visited Kazakhstan, and we went to Altyn-Emel National Park. This park is 200 km far from Almaty, and it sounds like not so much distance… but the park is very big! Inside the park, you need to drive more than 250 km on dirt roads. I think it is a little crazy to visit Altyn-Emel Park in just 1 or 2 days. You need minimum 3 days to see it well. But not all guidebooks say this — many say 1 or 2 days is enough, but I don’t agree!

For me, the most amazing place in the park was the Aktau Mountains. We did a 20 km hike there, and it was incredible! If you can go, I really recommend to do trekking in these mountains.
